Now an area that is home to numerous art galleries, internet companies, local cafes, bookstores, sports bars, and nightclubs, as well as many other attractions, there is always something to do in Pioneer Square.
The site was originated when entrepreneur Henry Yesler decided it would the ideal place for his lumber mill, which was located on Elliott Bay. Pioneer Square was an area that started out by being made of mostly wood structures, which later burned down during the Grand Seattle Fire of 1889. Luckily, during that time, the economy was strong enough to allow for Pioneer Square to quickly be rebuilt.
